Denny Heck did it here in WA just last year, and won quite comfortably. Rob Bishop out in Utah did as well (not so lucky.) It's not as uncommon as folks think.

Anyone know anything about death in absentia declarations in Oklahoma?

Correct, but I don't think a write-in campaign has ever won an election in modern county history, and it'd be one hell of a feat. Not impossible, but extremely, extremely unlikely.

So, there are a number of unopposed races here in King County (all of them municipal races). Given the miniscule success rate of write-in campaigns, would it be ok to go ahead and call those races for the only candidate declared, or should we just wait to November to get the numbers.
Alternatively, we can just mark them as winners and then update the vote numbers in November.

Can someone please delete this race? The initiative was just struck from the ballot by a Judge.

Been meaning to input certified results for the primary here in King County - maybe today I'll finally get to it! :)))

I'm a very outgoing person usually, but I've heard it explained that introversion/extroversion is how you recharge your battery/what excites you most, and it might just be The Autism with me but I just cannot vibe with crowds :\

I should note that the recall signatures have not been officially filed yet and the recall has not been officially set - but there's a 99% chance it will be within the next two months

Sawant is facing an extremely likely recall in early 2022 (Recall supporters have said they have gathered enough signatures to call a February/March special recall election), should a race for the recall be created?

As of tonight, there remain just over 1,500 votes to count from the City of Bothell. It is mathematically impossible for Altavas to catch up to either of them, so I'm calling the primary for Mahnkey/Kuehn.

You can divide up your vouchers, too.
I gave all four of mine to Nicole Thomas-Kennedy (City Attorney's race), but some I know give any combination of theirs to different candidates.
Seattle also has fundraising caps, and if a campaign reaches those, they cannot accept DVs any more.
Campaigns can apply to have that cap removed. Houston did because Harrell allies set up a PAC just for him, to circumvent the campaign finance laws, and now others are applying to get released from the cap.

Each Seattle resident (including those not registered to vote & green card holders) gets 4x $25 vouchers funded by the City to assign to a campaign for City Council, City Attorney, or Mayor. Eligible campaigns must sign financial pledges & have a certain number of signatures in support of their participation in the program to even start accepting vouchers.
You don't have to use your vouchers in the Primary per se, it's just statistically more useful to campaigns that way.
Campaigns can use that Voucher money just as they would any other financial contribution. There's no real expiry date or restrictions except for standard campaign finance law.

Harrell had been on the council since 2002, and President for a decent amount of time.

Very. He's the favorite of the moderate crowd.
It's going to be very close if it ends up being Harrell vs Gonzalez, but I feel like Harrell beats Echohawk in a General Election.

I agree. Finkenauer's gonna lose, and lose hard, even though the DSCC is going to throw buckets of cash her way.
Could be used to springboard her way back to the House in '24, though.

It'll end up being Bruce and either Gonzalez or Echohawk in the General. If Gonzalez can make the General, I think she wins. If Echohawk makes the General, it would be close but I think Bruce would win imo

the best part about all this is I have no idea what she expected. She's not from AOC's district, if she wanted to speak to someone in congress, she had her own rep at that time, and there were literally 434 other house members to choose from, but she chose the Latina from New York. It just baffles me

In the demographics section, could we please get rid of the "ed" at the end of "transgendered"; it's now a relatively antiquated term. By-and-large the preferred term is just "transgender", or "trans" for short.
