Ok, no clue now if he is going to declare today, but he is certainly running for Mayor of Mew York in 2021.

WSNJ: Is that new I though Bloomberg served three terms?

The City Council changed the term limits for Bloomberg to run again. A 2010 referendum reduced the limit back to two limits.

The New York Post on Tuesday reported that Yang dominated in a Slingshot Strategies survey of 1,000 Democratic voters conducted between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6. The technology entrepreneur was the first choice for 20 percent of respondents, followed by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and City Comptroller Scott Stringer, who received 14 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

In a separate question testing the advent of ranked-choice voting — a system of selecting five candidates and ranking them in order of preference — Yang was ranked first by 17 percent of respondents and second by 12 percent, putting him first both times.

It looks like Max Rose is strongly hinting at a run here. Him and Yang jumping in would make the race a little more interesting from an outsider's perspective, although I personally wouldn't know who I would support if I were a New Yorker.

I don't really understand why Yang chose today of all days to officially announce his candidacy. Talk about bad timing and getting lost in a news cycle. Who's running his campaign. Am I missing something here? Maybe he's thinking Ds are tuned into TV News so there might be a benefit?

I am looking forward to see how RCV works in NYC. Pretty remarkable that the largest city in America is committing to this experiment. There are several smaller cities in Colorado that are moving towards this.

My biggest fear about RCV in NYC is that it will take forever to get results and could tarnish peoples opinion about RCV as a democracy device.

For a race like this I can't even begin to imagine how it will play out. Election nerds like me love this stuff, but I'm not sure the average voter will like this or know how to use RCV. The winner of this race will be a total surprise if the primary goes ahead with this many serious candidates.

I still have questions about RCV implementation in New Jersey. There is a small possibility it is adopted, but seeing it in action over the Hudson will be fun this year, and hopefully it will help me form a better opinion.
