| Description | Salafist-orientated Islamist party supporting the implementation of Shariah law nationally. Party was banned in Tunisia in the 1990s as a violent organization. Party is chaired by Said Jaziri, a militant leader of the Muslim community in Quebec and alleged sponsor of terror activity. Jaziri was decried as the "controversial imam" and expelled from Canada on October 23, 2007. Jaziri was also tried in absentia in Tunisia and France for criminal and terroristic activity. Jaziri rode the controversy upon his return to Tunisia, managing to gain four seats for Errahmah after legislative elections held on October 6, 2019, himself elected deputy of the constituency of Ben Arous [حزب الرحمة; Ḥizb ar-Raḥma; Parti de la miséricorde (PM); Mercy Party]. |
