DescriptionA new InsiderAdvantage poll of Southern states with Democratic presidential primary elections in the next two months shows former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean leading the pack, with former Army Gen. Wesley Clark second.

The Survey of the South poll also shows that about 52 percent of those who say they plan to vote in a Democratic presidential preference primary in those 6 states remain undecided. And over half of the respondents said the results of the upcoming Iowa caucuses Jan. 19 and the New Hampshire primary Jan. 27 won’t affect their decision on whom to vote for.

The poll surveyed Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee – all states with presidential preference primaries in January, February and March. The poll was conducted Jan. 8-12 and surveyed 800 likely voters in the Democratic primaries in those states. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
