About to get hyper-partisan: I think it's simply impossible to have a constructive and informative debate with Donald Trump present. There were times where Biden definitely got frustrated and fired back at Trump, and he did interrupt Trump, a couple of times, but most of the chaos was clearly coming from Trump.

As much as I dislike him, if you put Pence in his Trump place, the voters would have a much more likely chance of deciphering both candidates' policies in a Biden-Pence debate because Pence is a much more "normal" politician. Trump's bombastic personality doesn't allow for a serious and constructive debate. Wallace did a poor job and certainly couldn't get control over the debate, but honestly there's not much you can do without a mute button.

This was insane.....Trump I think bit himself in the foot with his performance of constantly interrupting and yelling over everyone....Chris Wallace didn't help at times and couldn't get control over the debate.

I got to say although I didn't agree with some of the things he said, Biden, I felt had a better connection with the American people. I know who I'm voting for this election, but if I was undecided and watched this circus then Biden would get my vote...(what if he already has)

Also this is coming from someone who tends to vote conservative on many issues...in fact I voted for Trump in 2016, but tonight didn't do him any favors for those who are undecided..

Highest percentages for "this candidate won the debate". Source: The CNN post-debate poll for tonight [Link]

1) Romney, 1st debate 2012 - 67%
2) Clinton, 1st debate 2016 - 62%
3) Biden, 1st debate 2020 - 60%
4) Clinton, 2nd debate 1996 - 59%
5t) Obama, 3rd debate 2008 - 58%
5t) Clinton, town hall 1992 - 58%

The one time in their trends where the winner of the 1st debate had a higher percentage of "he won the debate" for the 2nd debate was Obama 2008.

The whole thing was sorta like trying to have a coherent conversation at a loud nightclub. Or being next to a jet engine on full blast.

So, congrats to Mike Pence on getting more pressure on him for the next debate!

By every measure, we won the debate easily last night. I think he was very weak, he looked weak, he was whining. Yeah, we won the debate by almost every poll that I saw. - Trump [Link]

There was fault on both sides. The interrupting on both sides, the name-calling was very unbecoming for a presidential debate. - Susan Collins - [Link]
