Description | This riding, which takes in the east-central part of Vancouver, runs from Grandview Highway in the north to East 41st Avenue/Rupert Street/East 45th Avenue in the south; from the Vancouver/Burnaby border in the east to Commercial Drive/Victoria Drive/Kingsway/Nanaimo Street in the west.
It is primarily a residential district of bungalows on small lots and scattered strips of low rise apartments and condos, and a working class area with a mix of ethnic minorities.
In the 2006 census, the immigrant population was 60%, which was the 2nd highest in the province.
42% gave Chinese as their mother tongue which was the 2nd highest in B.C.. The visible minority population was 77.5% which was the highest in B.C.; 48% were Chinese.
In the 2008 redistribution, kept 94% of the riding. |
