Description | This residential riding in the Greater Toronto Area contains part of the city of Mississauga.
The riding is bordered by Britannia Road West, Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West in the south and the northwest limits of Mississauga in the north, between Ninth Line West in the west and Mississauga Road, Highway 401, Mavis Road, Britannia Road West and Terry Fox Way in the east.
The primary employer is manufacturing. Average family income is $86,282 and unemployment is 4.7 per cent. More than 87 per cent of families own their homes. According to the 2001 census, the immigrant population is more than 40 per cent, with large East Indian and Chinese communities.
This riding was created in 2004 from 56 per cent of Mississauga West and 18 per cent of Brampton West-Mississauga. Mississauga West was created in the 1986 redistribution by combining parts of Mississauga North and South. In 1996, the lines were redrawn again.
