Description |
This riding, which takes in area in southwestern part of Vancouver, runs between the Fraser River in the south and West 33rd Avenue/Cambie Street/West 29th Avenue/Midlothian Avenue/East 33rd Avenue in the north; between Main Street/East 49th Avenue/Fraser Street in the east and Granville Street/West 57th Avenue/West Boulevard/Angus Drive in the west.
It includes the communities of Oakridge, Marpole and South Granville. The south end of Granville is the "land of the monster houses."
Langara College, Van Dusen Garden and Queen Elizabeth Park are in the riding.
In the 2006 census, the immigrant population was 59%; the fourth highest in the province. The visible minority population was 71%, the 4th highest in B.C.; 44.7% Chinese; 12% South Asian.
31% have university degrees.
No change in the 2008 redistribution.
