Description |
This new constituency comprises the old North East Fife seat plus Leven east from the old Central Fife seat. The seat stretches from the Firth of Tay in the north to the East Neuk of Fife with its picturesque former fishing villages. Larger urban areas include Cupar, the administrative capital of Fife which is a bustling market town. Perhaps the most famous population centre, however, is St Andrews. Known throughout the world as the ancient home of golf, it is also home to Scotland's oldest university, founded in 1410. Graduates include the Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond, the former Conservative Scottish Secretary Michael Forsyth and Dr Madsen Pirie, founder of the Adam Smith Institute. Its most famous current student is Prince William. Further inland are the smaller towns of Auchtermuchty and Ladybank.
