Description |
This rural eastern Ontario riding takes in the city of Prince Edward and the county of Hastings, excluding the city of Quinte West (Trenton). The riding extends north from Lake Ontario and includes Belleville, Bancroft, Deseronto and Madoc, as well as the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Major industries are manufacturing and retail trade with some agriculture. Average family income is $56,433 and unemployment is 7.3 per cent.
The riding was established in 1966. There was no change in 1996. In the 2004 redistribution, a portion of the riding of Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington was added in the north.
