InfoGeorge Duncan Hastie McMillan, Jr., is a 1966 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Auburn University and a 1969 graduate of the University of Virginia Law School. For 16 years he was a partner in the Birmingham law firm of McMillan & Spratling. During that time George served one term as a State Representative, one term as a State Senator, and from 1979 to 1983, he was Alabama's Lieutentant Governor.

George served as Chairperson of Alabama's delegation to the 1980 Democratic convention. He has served as Vice Chairman of the Southern Growth Policies Board, and was Chair of Alabama's Film Commission for seven years. In 1989, he was selected as Birmingham's "Citizen of the Year."

George is now president of McMillan Associates, a full-service events production, consulting and marketing firm. In addition to producing City Stages, Alabama's largest single special event, for which George is President and Chair of its Board, McMillan Associates also currently produces BayFest in Mobile, Bonne Fete in Baton Rouge, and Three Rivers Music Festival in Columbia. McMillan Associates clients in 2000 will also include Cooking Light magazine, Mercedes Benz U.S. International, the SportsFirst 1996 Fields, and a host of other Birmingham-based non-profit and community-oriented events.

George is the son of George D.H. and Jean (Autrey) McMillan, born in Greenville, Butler Country, Alabama, on October 11, 1943. On November 20, 1971 he married the former Ann Louise Dial. His son, George D.H. III is a Birmingham restaurateur, and his daughter, Ann Dial, works in marketing in San Francisco.
