Colonel Darren McAuley is a physician and third-generation combat veteran with more than 25 years of service in the Air Force. Darren learned at a young age how hard work and a good education can change your life: his mother — a first-generation college graduate — worked her way from paralegal to attorney while raising Darren and his siblings with their stepfather. Darren’s father, the son of an immigrant, spent his career working for the state, setting an early example of public service for Darren.
Darren’s military roots and desire to serve led him to join the Air National Guard as a third-year medical student. First deployed to Baghdad in 2008, Darren treated wounded American service members, going on to complete six total deployments and lead medical teams.
At home, Darren served as a physician at the Veterans Health Administration, where he was honored to provide world-class healthcare to folks who served our country. Darren later became the State Air Surgeon for Florida, where he approved the coverage of service members’ care and oversaw hospital evacuation plans for hurricanes.
Now the leading expert in osteopathic practices at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, Darren and his wife, Tammy, have two daughters and a son.
