Info | Carroll L. Brown was born in rural Mahaska County near Rose Hill, Iowa, on March 5, 1913, the son of Wirt and Lucy Lord Brown.
He attended elementary school and high school in Rose Hill, Iowa, and later attended Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, from which he graduated in 1935, with a degree in education. He taught school for a period of five years before leaving that profession.
Mr. Brown married Ruby Hite on September 18, 1937. To this union were born three children: Marjorie Sue, Jeanne Ann, and Graigg.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Christian Church and the Tri-Luminar Masonic Lodge.
He was a sales supervisor for a seed corn company, owned and operated a grain and livestock farm, and was part owner and manager of a pig hatchery. His interests were varied during his lifetime, with a distinct interest in agriculture.
Mr. Brown, a Republican, served Mahaska County as a representative in the Fifty-second, Fifty-second Extra, Fifty-third, Fifty-fourth, and Fifty-fifth General Assemblies. During his service in the General Assembly, he served as chairman of the Roads and Highways, Dairy and Food, and House Steering Committees.
Mr. Brown’s sudden and untimely death occurred at Oskaloosa, Iowa, on April 12, 1976.
