Adam is a father, husband, and fourth-generation native Nevadan. He is a former Lieutenant in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Adam volunteered to serve in a combat zone in Iraq at Forward Operating Base Camp Victory. His team was in charge of more than 20,000 detainees during the Surge, keeping our troops and the world safer by assisting with the detention and prosecution of thousands of war criminals and terrorists. For his exemplary service, Adam was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal, and his Unit was awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.

Adam served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and as an Assistant Professor of Law in the Leadership, Ethics, and the Law Department at the U.S. Naval Academy. He also served as a Special Advisor to the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, John R. Bolton. Throughout his time in military and government service, he has worked to put Americans’ security first.

Attorney General
As Attorney General, Adam has taken a bold, results-driven approach to serving the people of Nevada, protecting our most vulnerable citizens, and keeping our communities safe. He launched the state’s first-ever bi-annual Law Enforcement Summit, which is held twice a year and brings officials from Nevada’s 17 counties together to determine how local law enforcement can more effectively address emerging criminal trends.

Adam stood up for victims of sexual assault by taking on Nevada’s horrendous backlog of more than 8,000 untested sexual assault evidence kits, leading the effort to pursue justice for those victims. He has fought for victims of human trafficking, securing the first human-trafficking conviction in the history of his office. He has protected our seniors, creating a financial fraud unit to address issues including abuse of the elderly and guardianship exploitation.

Adam has also led in the effort to combat the opioid crisis that affects so many people across the country and here in Nevada, suing big pharmaceutical companies over issues including deceptive marketing practices regarding the risks and benefits of prescription opioids, as well as manipulation of drug prices. In October 2017, he launched “Nevada’s Prescription for Addiction,” an opioid initiative to combat the use, abuse and misuse of prescription drugs in Nevada, which received unanimous, bipartisan approval from the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee. That same month, he also announced the appointment of the state’s first-ever statewide opioid coordinator in the Office of the Attorney General.

Adam has remained committed to his fellow veterans, creating the Office of Military Legal Assistance, a first-of-its-kind, public-program that provides members of Nevada’s military community with free legal representation at no cost to taxpayers. The program was named a “Best Practice Program” by the U.S. Department of Defense and has helped Nevada’s servicemembers and veterans handle thousands of matters pro bono.

Adam also created the state’s first-ever Federalism Unit within the Attorney General’s Office, to protect the interests of Nevadans by pushing back against the federal government when it oversteps its bounds and encroaches on our liberties.

Nevada’s Next Governor
Adam is running for Governor to protect the things that make Nevada a unique land of opportunity, and to ensure it remains that way for generations to come.

He will protect our future, by improving our education system through reforms that will help ensure every Nevada child is provided with the tools needed to succeed in life. That means making sure our schools are adequately funded, increasing accountability for education spending, giving parents more educational options, and rewarding the hard work of Nevada’s teachers.

He will protect our status as a land of economic opportunity, where businesses can thrive, individuals can find better jobs, and all Nevadans can get access to a better life. He’ll cut red tape, remove barriers to employment, and make sure we build the workforce we need for the jobs of tomorrow. As Governor, Adam will fight to make Nevada the most economically competitive state in the American West.

And he will protect our local communities. Ensuring public safety has been Adam’s top priority as Attorney General, and that includes making sure our schools are safe. Adam’s Attorney General’s office convened a law enforcement summit in March to bring together law enforcement and education officials across the state to identify gaps in the system that could lead to a tragedy in one of our schools. Keeping our citizens safe will continue to be a top priority for Adam as Governor.

Adam believes that Nevada has an exceedingly bright future, but he also knows ensuring that future will require setting the right priorities and making the right choices today. By protecting all that makes Nevada — and Nevadans — so special, Adam believes that together, we can make Nevada’s next chapter the best yet in our state’s history.

Adam lives in Reno with his wife, Jaime, their daughters Sophia and Isabella, their new baby boy, Jack, and their dog, Buckley.
