Info | Phil Mitman was elected Mayor of Easton in November 2003, took office January 2004.
Phil has been active in Easton organizations, civic groups, business activities, and Easton city government since coming into the Bixler’s Jewelers family business in 1968. He was Mayor of the City of Easton from 1980-1984, then chose not to run for a second term due to raising his four young children and additional family commitments. He is a 1962 graduate of Easton Area High School, and Gettysburg College 1966.
He is still a co-owner of Bixler’s Jewelers, Easton and Allentown, with his sister Joyce Welken.
In 1997, Phil left Bixler’s to pursue a new career in Public Relations and Fund-Raising and became the Senior Development Officer with the Richard Caron Foundation in Reading, PA, 1997 and 1998.
From 1999 to 2002, he signed on with Easton Heritage Alliance to create and lead a Capital Campaign to complete the 1.2 Million dollar restoration of the 1753 Bachmann Publick House, (Easton’s oldest building), an Early American Living History Center, at the corner of 2nd and Northampton Streets in Easton’s downtown historic district.
Phil is currently on the State Theatre Board of Directors; active with the Greater Easton Development Partnership; has been on numerous other Boards and Commissions.
