InfoRep. Gary Witt, a Democrat, represents part of Buchanan and Platte Counties (District 29) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to his third consecutive two-year term in 1994, Rep. Witt is chairman of the House Judiciary and Ethics Committee. He also serves on the following House committees: Appropriations--Education and Public Safety; Civil and Criminal Law; and Workers Compensation and Employment Security.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Witt is an attorney with a law firm in Platte City.

Rep. Witt is a member of the following organizations: St. Joseph South Side Progressive Club; Platte County Democrat Central Committee; KCI-Northland Chamber of Commerce; Platte County Historical Society; Platte County Breakfast Club; and First Baptist Church of Weston.

A 1983 graduate of Platte County R-III, Rep. Witt received a bachelor of arts degree in communication from William Jewell College in 1987 and a law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1990. He served as a member of the Board of Advocates and the Order of the Barrister at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1989-1990 and was selected to the National Moot Court Team in 1988.

Rep. Witt was selected in 1993 as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Missourians by the Missouri Jaycees and received the Walter Pope Binns Public Service Fellowship from William Jewell College in 1994.

Born February 2, 1965, in Smithville, Rep. Witt resides in Platte City. He is married to Angie LaRose Witt.
