InfoStanley Cox was born on December 26, 1949. Stanley and his wife Kristeen have two grown children, Adam and Sarah.

Stanley served in active duty with the United States Army (Signal Corps) between 1971 and 1973, stationed in the Republic of Korea and the U.S. Military Academy - West Point, New York. He also served as an officer in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1974 through 1979, attaining the rank of Captain.

Stanley graduated with a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, and a juris doctorate (law degree) from the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri, in 1976. Since graduating, Stanley has engaged in the private practice of law.

Stanley served as the elected Prosecuting Attorney of Pettis County from 1979 through 1982. He served on the Missouri Housing Development Commission as a member and as Chairman for two terms. He served as the first Vice-Chairman of the Missouri Veterans Commission from 1989 through 1991, and served as a member of the Board of Regents of Central Missouri State University from 1991 through 1997, with two terms as Board President.

Stanley was a board member of the Pettis County Fire Protection District, an elected position which he has held from 1991 to December 2006. He is an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sedalia, Missouri; Sedalia Rotary Club; and a member of the VFW Post #2591 in Sedalia, Missouri. He has worked extensively as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, currently serving as Scouting for Food Chairman. Stanley has received the 1995 "Scouter Extraordinary" Award of the Osage Trails District - BSA, Osage Trail Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit 2008 and is the recipient of the "John Ryan Award".

As a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, Stanley is currently serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Elections Committee and as a member of the Rules Committee, Judiciary Committee and the Financial Institutions Committee. He is also the Vice-Chairman of his Caucus Policy Development Committee.
