InfoBruce Stanton was born in Orillia, Ontario in 1957 and has resided in Severn Township all of his life. Bruce attended Park Street Collegiate in Orillia and graduated from the business school of Ryerson-Polytechnical Institute.

Prior to being elected Member of Parliament for Simcoe North Bruce was President of Bayview Wildwood Resorts Limited and Vice President of The Cottages on Sparrow Lake. He is the 5th generation of Stantons to own and operate a tourism business on Sparrow Lake since the family first developed a presence there in 1884. Bayview Wildwood attracts and entertains approximately 15,000 visitors a year and employs up to 100 people.

Bruce has previously served as a Board member and Chair of several tourism organizations including: the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC), Resorts Ontario, Tourism Ontario, and the Huronia Tourism Association. He also served as a municipal Councillor in his home municipality of Severn Township. Bruce has been an active member of the Orillia Rotary club and has served on the Board of Directors and acted as Chair of the Ontario Workplace Health and Safety Agency. Bruce served his community on the Board of the Orillia area Community Futures organization (CDC) between 1997 and 2001 and chaired its Community Opportunities Development committee.

Bruce was first elected to the House Of Commons in January 2006 where he proudly serves the people of Simcoe North.

Bruce and his wife Heather live at Port Stanton with their two young daughters.
