Special election due to the election of Summer Lee to the U.S. House of Representatives
The Democratic and Republican leaders of the House have filed lawsuits in court seeking differing dates- The Democrats are looking to have the special election on Feb. 7 (coinciding with the special election in District 34, also in Allegheny County), the Republicans are looking to have the special election on May 9 (date of the regular primary election).
On January 13th, 2023, Pennsylvania courts ruled this election would be held on February 7th.
