Description | "Elizabeth Warren quickly retreated Tuesday from an earlier demand to see more of Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown’s tax returns.
The Harvard professor had said Monday that Brown, the GOP incumbent she’s challenging, should release tax returns for every year he has been in public service.
“I think Scott Brown should release his tax returns for all the years he’s been in public service,” Warren said at the opening of her campaign office in Worcester, according to GoLocalWorcester.com. “He’s been in public service for 20 years, then he should have 20 years of tax returns.”
The comments came after Warren called on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns since at least 2002, when he began campaigning to become the state’s governor.
“Elizabeth was asked whether Mitt Romney should release more tax returns. She thinks that as a candidate for the highest office in the land, he should,” Warren spokeswoman Alethea Harney said in a statement to The Boston Globe. “Both Elizabeth and Sen. Brown have released multiple years of tax returns that she believes give voters an understanding of each candidate’s financial circumstances." |
