Description | Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink on Friday made public her tax returns for the past five years, as well as the separate returns filed by her husband, attorney Bill McBride.
The returns are long and complicated, totaling hundreds of pages, But ultimately, they are not very revealing, as Sink – elected chief financial officer in 2006 -- has her assets in trusts that don't specify what's in them.
Her income during the period ranged from a high of $780,598 in 2007 -- thanks to a capital gain of more than $500,000 -- to $274,538 in 2009. Her taxes paid ranged from $131,656 in 2007 to $39,529 in 2008.
McBride's income during the same period ranged from just over $1 million in 2007 -- he sold grove land for a profit of more than $900,000 and also reported $11,000 in gambling winnings -- to $161,092 in 2006. His tax payments ranged from a high of $143,722 in 2007 to $17,430 in 2006. |
