| Description |
Region was inhabited by Don Cossacks and called the land of the Don Army from 1786 until 1870, then renamed the Region of the Don Army until 1918, when the Bolshevik Red Army rushed in and established the Don Soviet Republic in its stead. Region was later split in two and renamed Rostov on January 15, 2938.
