InfoScott grew up in Boston and was raised by two independent women, a mother who worked three jobs and received her degree at night and an Italian grandmother who started her own business and showed Scott the path to entrepreneurism. This sparked Scott to start his first business at 12 years old.

After leaving college, Scott continued his entrepreneurial path that included a landscape company, which afforded him the opportunity to oversee the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Horticultural Beautification Program. His love of plants, and the creativity he brought to the city earned him The Governor’s Citation Award for the Common Wealth of Massachusetts for beautification of State Property. He learned how to work with the city and state as well as communities where the beautification projects were located.

In the early stage of his life, Scott served his country as a United State Marine and Marine Corp Reserves. The Marines helped Scott understand the importance of team work and overcoming challenges.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Scott and his business partner (and future wife) Wanda James opened their first restaurant, The Jamaican Café, in Santa Monica, California which quickly became a celebrity hang out. Woody Harrelson, Jamie Foxx, Keenan Wayans, Alfie Woodard, and Michael Keaton were all diners at the beach city café where Scott served as the Executive Chef. The quaint café was named Best of LA and received numerous reviews in the LA Weekly, LA Times, and awarded the couple the cover of Black Enterprise Magazine. This notoriety enabled Scott to mentor many young chefs who went on to own their restaurant.

Scott expanded his career to include twelve years of professional property, construction and project management for high rise condominiums, commercial & residential properties, and affordable housing development in Los Angeles and Long Beach, CA. He also obtained his real estate license and sold residential and rental property in Los Angeles. The diversity of properties taught him to understand the views of renters and landlord relationships and the importance of community building.

Scott moved to Colorado in 2004, where he opened four additional restaurants; 8 Rivers Restaurant and Catering in Superior, 8 Rivers Modern Caribbean in the Highlands, 8 Rivers LoDo, and Jezebels Southern Bistro LoHi. The restaurants received rave reviews and were named Diner’s Choice (2009), Best of Denver (2008) and Top of the Town (2007). Currently, Scott has cooked for many Denver Bronco superstars including; Von Miller, Elvis Dumerville, Derrick Wolfe, Rahim Moore, Kevin Vickerson and Robert Ayers.

In 2009, Scott and his wife, Wanda James, opened one of the first dispensaries in Colorado. The Apothecary of Colorado was the first African American owned dispensary, followed by Simply Pure Medicated Edibles six months later. Today, Scott and his wife own Simply Pure Edibles and Simply Pure, America’s most politically involved dispensary. Since moving to North Denver, Scott’s companies have employed over 150 residents.

Scott is nationally known as a master cannabis chef. He has helped educate many people to look to cooking with cannabis as an alternative to opioids and prescription drugs. He has worked with people who are stricken with numerous illnesses, including cancer, PTSD, migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, and epilepsy, His spontaneous, easy style of cooking led to him being named Medical Marijuana Advocate of 2010. Over the last decade his fight for social justice, access to cannabis for vets and helping people discover a safer way to heal has earned accolades from not only the Colorado Medical Marijuana community but from across the country.

Scott has been featured on numerous national shows including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, CBS Sunday Morning Holiday Special, “Eat, Drink and be Merry” and on CNBC’s Marijuana USA.
