Info | Sam Murray was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania, and has been a lifelong resident of Northampton County. He is the son of the late Samuel J. Murray and Mary Ann (Boccadora) Murray. He is a graduate of Easton Area High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Moravian College and his Law Degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. He lives in Hanover Township with his wife, Margie (Roeder) Murray, and their three children: Joseph, a freshman engineering student at Penn State University; Emily, a junior at Liberty High School; and Maria who is in 3rd grade at Asa Packer Elementary School.
Sam has been a practicing attorney for 25 years. His broad experience includes jury trials and other litigation in civil, criminal and family court. He served on the Northampton County Public Defender’s Staff for 5 ½ years and was subsequently appointed by the Court to serve as Conflicts Panel Counsel in Criminal Court and Juvenile Dependency Court. In 2003, President Judge Robert A. Freedberg appointed Murray as Child Custody Master and Juvenile Dependency Hearing Master, where he has heard thousands of cases and has made critical decisions regarding the protection of local children and the well-being of families. Sam is also an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, Moravian College.
Sam is admitted to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, New Jersey Supreme Court, United States District Court - Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a general member of the Pennsylvania and Northampton County Bar Associations as well as serving his second term on the Board of Governors for the Northampton County Bar Association.
Sam is an extremely active member in local and civic youth organizations. In 2002, he was the manager of the Pennsylvania State Championship and National Regional Baseball team from Lehigh Little League. He has served on the Board at Lehigh Little League for the past 10 years. He also coached CYO girls basketball, Connie Mack Baseball and American Legion Baseball. He is also a member and serves as the Solicitor of the Holy Cross Italian American Society in Easton.
