InfoBILL FAZIO was born and raised in San Francisco and has lived and worked here his entire life. He served as an Assistant District Attorney for twenty years.

HERITAGE

Bill's grandparents emigrated from Italy to San Francisco at the turn of the century, settling in the North Beach neighborhood. They survived the great quake of 1906. Bill's grandfather shined shoes at the Palace Hotel to support a family of six.

Bill's father was a member of the Pressman's Union and sailed as a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Marines during World War II. His parents had five children and in 1954 moved from North Beach to the Sunset.

HARD WORK

Bill attended Abraham Lincoln High School. His first job, while still in High School, was at Alioto's #8 on Fisherman's Wharf, cracking crabs and selling walk-away shrimp cocktails.

Bill worked his way through City College and San Francisco State University, earning a Bachelor and Master's Degree. He earned his law degree from USF while working full-time as a union printing pressman for the SF Newspaper Agency.

Bill began working in the District Attorney's office in 1975 in the misdemeanor unit. He quickly advanced to the narcotics section, and then found his niche in prosecuting sexual assault and child abuse cases.

Bill worked closely with community and support groups for victims of sexual assault and wrote the first guidebook outlining the legal process for sexual assault victims. He then spent nearly fourteen years prosecuting homicides.

Bill Fazio's 90% plus career conviction rate stands in sharp contrast to the incumbent's record of "California's worst conviction rate for violent felonies." (SF Chronicle)

FAMILY and COMMUNITY

Bill met and married his wife Lepeti, an immigrant from Samoa, in 1975. Their eldest daughter, Tarita, graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Biology and is working as a scientist, thier son, Thomas, is a senior at UC Riverside, and their youngest, Tatiana, is in the sixth grade. Bill has been active in his homeowner's association and in his childrens's education.

Bill has maintained an active criminal law practice in recent years. He serves on the board of directors of Centro Latino, provides pro bono legal work to the South Pacific community, and appears as a guest lecturer at local colleges and law schools.

VETERAN CRIME FIGHTER

On Bill's qualifications for office the San Francisco Chronicle said it best:

"Bill's career as a prosecutor has been spent getting the most violent criminals in San Francisco out of our community. Bill volunteered to prosecute one of the first hate crimes in America. He prosecuted one of the first spousal abuse cases in America as first degree murder.

He has taken on murderers and child abusers and those who prey upon seniors-and he's gotten them off our streets. He's done one of the toughest jobs that there is to try to make our neighborhoods safer.

Because of all these things, Bill Fazio has earned the support of those who think San Francisco's District Attorney should be someone who has the experience necessary to combat violent crime."

Bill would like you to join with thousands, from all walks of life, to help him make our City a safer place for us and our families.
