An attorney and managing partner at Finnegan, Underwood, Ryan & Tierney in Boston, Finnegan specializes in corporate regulatory law. The former president of the Boston School Committee from 1975-1979, he was a Boston mayoral candidate in 1979 and in 1983 as well as a Boston radio/television talk show host form 1979-1983.

Finnegan received a B.A. in philosophy from Stonehill in 1964 and a J.D. from Boston University Law School in 1967. He was awarded a master’s degree in government (A.L.M.) from Harvard University in 1999. He is a member of the American Trial Lawyer Association and also of the Boston, the Massachusetts and the American Bar Associations

Finnegan is past president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America. He served as a member of the Leukemia Society’s National Board of Trustees. He is a former chairman of the Advisory Board of the American Automobile Association of Massachusetts and a member of the Board of Directors of AAA Southern New England. He is a former director of The Partnership, a greater Boston committee dedicated to the improvement of race relations in Boston.

Finnegan continues to provide political analysis for Boston television outlets and is a frequent participant in public affairs. He resides in Boston with his wife, Ellen.
