DescriptionBBC Profile:
Represented by Labours Frank Dobson since its creation in 1983, this seat is culturally and socially diverse. Dobson took 65% of the vote in 1997 but after an 11% swing to the Liberal Democrats in 2005, his majority was reduced to 4,787.

The election will see gains from part of the Gospel Oak, Highgate, Haverstock and Camden Town wards as well as Primrose Hill, all from the old Hampstead and Highgate seat. To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.

This constituency includes a mixture of residential, commercial and institutional land in the northern segment of central London, including the tourist centres of Covent Garden and Camden Town, Regents Park and the celebrity haven of Primrose Hill, as well as Bloomsbury, where University College London is based.

In the northern part are the residential areas of Kentish Town and Gospel Oak.

The new Channel Tunnel rail terminal for Eurostar was moved to St Pancras International in 2007, costing 800m and bringing trains from France and Belgium to the constituency. The seat is served by almost all Underground lines and is also home to Euston and Kings Cross stations.

Thousands of jobs were created and the volume of tourist and business travel increased following the redevelopment of the areas surrounding the new Eurostar terminal. King's Cross Underground was also modernised.
