Description | Catalan-nationalist center-right party and successor to the dissolved Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya) founded by Jordi Pujol, the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya from 1980 to 2003. Party had suffered through division over the self-exile of former Catalonia president and fugitive, Carles Puigdemont, who was removed from office by the Spanish Government. Party saw its fortunes quickly fade away after it broke off its alliance with Junts per Catalunya, and subsequently fail to obtain any seats in the Parliament of Catalonia after elections held on February 14, 2021. Party decided to dissolve itself on October 28, 2023 after successive electoral defeats. Party was led by David Bonvehí [Partit Demòcrata Europeu Català (PDeCAT)]. |
