| Description | The name change would take place given the new stage facing the opposition bloc.
During this day the block "Constituent Unit" that includes the former Concertation -DC, PS, PPD, PR- plus PL, Citizens and New Deal, registered its parliamentary list, an opportunity in which it also released its new name. In this way, the conglomerate that last weekend had its presidential primary will now be called "New Social Pact", with which they will seek to mark a new stage after the departure of the Progressive PRO party, this after Marco Enríquez-Ominami has announced his presidential candidacy.
Regarding this change, Natalia Piergentili, president of the PPD, commented that “Constituent Unit was created for everything that had to do with the constituent process. Today we are in another stage, therefore it seemed to us that our name had to give meaning to what we want to offer to the country ”.
For his part, Álvaro Elizalde, PS helmsman, declared that “We have registered a New Social Pact that represents the progressive forces that participated in the consultation process over the weekend. A unitary agreement has been reached and included independent candidates ”, he affirmed. |
