Description | A 20-year-old Canandaigua man is back home after undergoing an experimental stem cell surgery in Lisbon, Portugal.
A diving accident on his graduation day two years ago, left Paul Rudat a quadriplegic.
Rudat spent two weeks in a Lisbon hospital, where doctors removed stem cells from his nose and transplanted them into his spinal cord.
Five days after the surgery, Paul started to see results.
"I guess I moved my toe once or twice so far, it's rare, but it happened. It's a good sign. I can close my hand, and make a fist," says Rudat.
