Description | Both Republicans and Democrats are looking forward to President Bush's upcoming visit to Minnesota - for entirely different reasons.
GOP leaders hope Bush's visit next Friday will help raise $1 million for Rep. Mark Kennedy's 2006 Senate campaign, while Democrats hope the president's low approval ratings will sink Kennedy's chances in November.
The dueling perspectives give a glimpse of what's to come during the campaign season.
Democrats plan to link Kennedy to a second-term president they see as weakened by the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, high energy costs and GOP ethics investigations.
"Bring him on," said Minnesota DFL Chairman Brian Melendez. |
