Description | MONTGOMERY - A special state Supreme Court refused Friday to reinstate ousted Chief Justice Roy Moore to Alabama's top judicial post.
The seven-member court, headed by former Gov. John Patterson, voted 7-0 to affirm the state Court of the Judiciary's unanimous decision to oust Moore for what it called flagrant ethics violations. A federal judge ordered him to remove a Ten Commandments monument he had placed in the rotunda of the state judicial building, but he refused.

Moore criticized Friday's ruling but wouldn't say whether he will appeal it to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"This is about the acknowledgment of God, and many judges can't admit they are wrong and that they can enter unlawful orders," Moore said in a written statement released by spokeswoman Jessica Atteberry.
