| Description | New Southern Interior riding which runs north from B.C./U.S. border.
It includes parts of Okanagan-Similkameen and Kootenay Boundary Regional Districts.
Osoyoos, Oliver, Keremos, Greenwood, Grand Forks and Midway are all in the southern part of riding.
There are also many native reserves in the riding including Osoyoos IR1, Range IR13, Ashnola IR10 and Keremeos Forks IR 12 and 12A.
Aboriginal population was 4.4% in the 2006 census.
Population over age 65 was 25.4%, which is second highest in the province.
The riding has an extensive agricultural and manufacturing base.
The riding created in the 2008 redistribution from: 37% Penticton-Okanagan Valley; 28% West Kootenay-Boundary; 13% Yale-Lillooet. |
