Description | Gatineau is a sprawling rural riding, stretching from Chelsea all the way to La Vérendrye Park. It follows the Gatineau River valley, and the only highway leading to the Abitibi region. Most of the population of the riding lives in the Gatineau Valley; those at the southern end are within commuting distance of Ottawa.
This riding contains the following municipalities: Aumond, Blue Sea, Bois-Franc, Bouchette, Cantley, Cayamant, Chelsea, Déléage, Denholm, Egan-Sud, Gracefield, Grand-Remous, Kazabazua, Lac-Sainte-Marie, La Pêche, Low, Maniwaki, Messines, Montcerf-Lytton, Northfield, Sainte-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau and Wright. It also contains that part of the Ville de Gatineau bounded as follows: the rivière Gatineau, the limit of the Ville de Gatineau with the municipalities of Chelsea, Cantley, Val-des-Monts and L'Ange-Gardien, the montée Mineault and the autoroute de l'Outaouais (50).
