| Description | Since 2015, Connecticut's Councils of Governments (COGs) are regional planning organizations to aid coordination among municipalities. Nine (9) exist as of 2024. The COGs were defined in 2015 under state law and in 2022 have been recognized by the federal government as county-equivalent areas.
