Info | Melanie D’Arrigo is an organizer, activist and behavioral change professional driven by a relentless desire to bring common sense solutions to her community. Born and raised on Long Island, she is now raising her own family in Port Washington.
As a graduate of Barnard College, her policies for equal rights and protections for women are unwavering. She is a fierce women’s rights advocate who supports paid family leave, equal pay, a livable wage, affordable childcare, and unequivocally supports abortion access for all.
Shaped by her Masters of Science degree from the School of Health Professions at Long Island University, she is an avid supporter of healthcare as a right. Melanie has spent the majority of her career helping individuals improve their health and building healthier, more productive cultures within organizations. She believes not only in ensuring all individuals have access to healthcare, but also in creating environments and support structures that proactively support health and wellbeing.
As a community leader, Melanie has organized marches, rallies and protests. She was the campaign manager for Assemblyman Tony D’Urso and heavily volunteered to flip the state senate 7th district in 2018. She is also heavily involved in volunteering for local politics.
Melanie is a member of Moms Demand Action and strongly supports universal background checks and common sense gun laws. She is a proponent of the Green New Deal and believes environmental security is a top issue. She believes our government should work for all of the people, not just the uber-rich and corporations, and pledges to bring a voice truly reflective of the people to each and every issue while in office.
