| Info | I am a double University of Wisconsin alum, decorated combat veteran and a dedicated public servant. While I was born and raised in Virginia, I grew up in Wisconsin. I moved to Madison in 2000 to attend the University of Wisconsin - Madison on an Army ROTC scholarship.
As an undergraduate in the political science department I began to develop my political philosophy: pragmatic Democrat. After graduating in 2004, I served four years as an officer in the United States Army. I volunteered for the Airborne, and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2007 I was deployed to Iraq as part of the “surge” effort.
After returning from combat in 2008, I transitioned into the Army Reserve where I still serve today. In 2008 I also moved back to Madison to attend the University of Wisconsin Law School. While in law school I worked at the Wisconsin State Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin. After graduating in 2010, I worked at a local law firm in Madison.
I married my wife Cara at a beautiful ceremony at the Monona Terrace in 2010. We live in downtown Madison where we take full advantage of the lakes, bike paths and Farmer’s Markets.
