| Info | James W. Holland of Lehighton has declared his candidacy for the Carbon County Board of Commissioners.
Holland is the son of Vivian (Graaf) Holland and the late Luther Holland. He is married to the former Leslie Sauers and resides in Lehighton. They have two children, Karissa, who is attending Lehigh Carbon Community College, majoring in early childhood education, and Kristopher, who is a junior at Lehighton Area High School.
A graduate of Lehighton Area High School, Holland attended Kutztown University and graduated with a degree in secondary education (math). He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a heavy equipment operator with the Sea Bees. He is currently employed as a teacher at the Orefield campus of KidsPeace.
Most recently, Holland was a four-year member of the Lehighton Area School Board. While serving on the board, he chaired the building and grounds committee and was also a member of the negotiating committee for the teacher contracts. He currently holds membership in the Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 social as a life member, Lehighton American Legion Post 314, Beaver Run Road, Lehighton Orioles Club and the Ukrainian Homestead of Lehighton.
He is the running mate of Frank Ruch.
