Info | Seward was born in Danville to Private Frank “Clent” Anderson and his wife Mary. Seward’s parents met when Private Anderson was repatriated in 1945 after being imprisoned by the Japanese Empire during WWII. During his time in a forced labor POW camp in the Pacific, Frank received only two letters and one was from a young woman back home in Danville who had seen his status as a POW in the Register and Bee. Upon his return he sought her out to thank her for writing him and they were married a short time later.
While living with and working alongside his parents at the family furniture store on North Union Street, Seward learned about love of family and country, the inherent worth of all people and the satisfaction and confidence that comes from putting in a hard day's work.
Seward attended George Washington High School and the University of Virginia where he attained a degree in Religious Studies. When his studies were completed he entered the Virginia Army National Guard and served for six years. He continued to work full time at the family business, Anderson Furniture Company.
Seward began a career in public service first on Danville’s city council and later as Mayor. During his 10 years as Mayor, Seward led the charge to invest in the construction of two new schools, worked with VDOT and the General Assembly to acquire funds to invest in infrastructure such as 265 bypass and the Archer Gammon Memorial Bridge. He also oversaw the opening of Airside and Riverview Industrial Parks where many of us work today.
Seward currently works in the financial services industry in Danville and is seeking to enter public service again because he knows the last decade has been devastating to Southside's families. All the while, our leadership in Richmond has spent its time fighting the other party instead of fighting for Southside. Seward is ready to lead and will work with anyone who is serious about bringing Southside the jobs, roads, healthcare, and education our families need.
