| Info | Born in New Glasgow, Dan Walsh has spent all but eight years of his life in Pictou County. At the age of 18, he was on his way to a career in professional boxing until a hunting accident forced him to put his gloves away and pursue another passion.
Overcoming his disability, Mr. Walsh joined the Municipal Police Force for the Town of Trenton. He has been a sergeant for 29 years.
Mr. Walsh has served his community at many levels. He is an active member of his church and has volunteered as a fundraiser and an advocate for many causes in Central Nova. Mr. Walsh has addressed countless audiences as a motivational speaker, dealing with issues such drug awareness, bullying, sexual assault and abuse, violence against women, racism, and firearm safety.
An avid sports enthusiast, throughout the years Dan has spent many hours in hockey rinks, on the basketball courts, and at baseball and rugby fields around the Atlantic Provinces as both a player and a coach.
A family man, Mr. Walsh has been married for 33 years to Theresa Grant of Highland Drive, New Glasgow. They have 3 adult children: Shane, Shannon and Christopher, and two grandchildren: Hayley, 5, and Shayna, 9.
