WHO ARE YOU??? I have been looking at different web sites and it doesn't appear that you have replied to any questions on what your political views are on anything. I would like to see some info on a candidate prior to voting for them. Do you stand for anything?

Hello Mister Thibauld. I'm Mario De Martin, I do not know if you remember me. I was a student to whom you taught in 1971. Adult Educations. Summer 1971 Windsor (Canada) Eire street. I asserted that it was the Italian Antonio Meucci invented the telephone while everyone said (you and other students) that it was Alexander Bell! You called me since then Antonio and not Mario! LOL! I live in Italy since 1972. For you all right? I see that you've become an important person! Congratulations

Dear Mayor Gallagher,

How do you respond to the following statements?

Federal politicians (eg: the President, the presidential cabinet, Senators, Congressmen, . . .) should:

1) disclose their budget proposals (taxation, spending, investments, . . .) to the public in the most succinct, transparent, and accessible way possible. This would help the public assess leadership's priorities and understand leadership's fiscal policy.

2) disclose their e-mail addresses to the public so the public can easily contact them without needing to access a single politician's website at a time.

3) open themselves to receiving messages from citizens outside their region, as advice from outsiders could improve how leaders serve their region and the country in general.

Thanks for your attention, and stay well!

For a book on the 19th century anti rent wars of the Hudson Valley, I'd appreciate citation of the sources of information on Van Buren's alleged alcoholism.

steve laffey is a criminal who ran and hid from rhode island after having rigged a 2002 election in cranston. he did this by granting local police and firefighter their pensions and safety complexes in exchange for their eliminating the competition by filing false police reports and medical diagnosis through family and friends. It should have been apparent to all as to what he was doing, as this is the same way laffey eliminated his own brothers who he felt jealous of and threatened for attention by. he is a criminal and if the state of Colorado has any sense, they'd lock him in an institution or ship him back to rhode island so he could be the "financial expert" of his cell block in prison where he belongs.

Please read and consider our thoughts on widening Lee Drive.

1. Less expensive and less intrusive options should be done first.
A. A turning light on Lee and Hyacinth should be installed which would allow 10-15 seconds for drivers to turn left.
B. Lengthen the time the light remains green on Hyacinth and lessen the time the light remains red on Hyacinth. I observe the situation because of where our house is located near Lee. Cars line up on Hyacinth while cars on Lee continue with long time lengths (4 minutes) between red lights and short time lengths with red lights. This causes traffic to pile up on Lee all the way to Perkins. Come sit on my porch for a while and I’ll show you what it looks like.
C. If A and B don’t provide enough relief, then make turning lanes on Hyacinth and Lee. Lee doesn’t need to be 3-laned. Highland Road isn’t 3-laned the whole length of the road. The traffic issues on Lee are not due to drivers turning left onto side streets.

2. The traffic problem on Lee is caused by the bottleneck on College and Perkins. Much of the traffic on Lee is traveling to the interstate or to Corporate Blvd. Access to the interstate in BOTH directions as well as access to Corporate Blvd. is from the right lane on College which means that cars need to remain in the right lane to get onto the interstate. Adding lanes to Lee Drive will only create a greater bottleneck on College which is already almost unusable during many times of the day. College Drive and access to the interstate needs to be reworked and much of the traffic on Lee will be eased.

3. Solutions need to come from greater connectivity throughout the city, not creating massive swaths of pavement. When there is an accident on the interstate, Perkins Road is gridlocked because there are no other streets parallel to it that can share the traffic.

Southdowns is loosely based on the grid system which works to move traffic because it offers options for travel when there is an accident or road work. Residents need to understand that public streets are not private driveways. Drivers need to respect residential neighborhoods. Lowering the speed limits to 25 mph is a great idea. However, Hyacinth also needs to be lowered to 30. It is a residential street all the way from Meadowlea to Cedardale with ONE light business. Hyacinth is a substandard (narrow and with open ditches) road that is posted 35 mph. One comparison, Bawell St., is wide, curbed and guttered, connects two busy 4-laned roads and is posted 30 mph. Please lower the speed limit on Hyacinth and enforce it!

Reworking College Drive and creating more connectivity throughout the south part of Baton Rouge would help traffic in the area much more than widening Lee Drive. IF (after the less expensive work listed above is finished) it is still determined that Lee needs to be 3 lanes, then do it RIGHT or don't do it at all! Remember, we live here. We spend our lives and most of our money on our homes. Designing an aesthetic plan that won't create a freeway inches from resident’s front doors would go a long way toward receiving approval from the residents who live close to Lee Drive in Southdowns.

Thank you,
George and Valerie Hudson

Results from 1996 have been omitted, but there was a contested race that year, as the link above shows. In fact the Republican who ran in that race is now the Republican nominee this year in House District 8. I am hopeful the moderator will make these additions to the candidate link for Tom Gann (the GOP nominee) and the results displayed in on this particular webpage.

I live on Eastern Avenue North of 53rd Street. The Veteran's Memorial Parkway heading towards the new Rhythm City Resort roadway is extremely dark at night even with high beams on. The traffic has increased significantly and there are drag racing both of cars and motorcycles on these two roadways. I hope the city has plans to have street lights installed due to public safety. I also note that Jersey Ridge road heading towards the new casino is also extremely dark at night. Again, due to public safety, street lights need to be installed in these areas.
