Description | Opposition party founded and led by Jean-Jacques Ekindi. Ekindi was an MP, long-time ally of President Paul Biya and member of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM). Ekindi broke off in 1991 and became a vociferous opponent of Biya, dubbing himself the "Lion Hunter" (Biya is nicknamed the "Lion Man"). Party strongly supports Federalism in Cameroon and coming to terms with the Anglophonic parts of the nation to avoid Anglophone secession. Ekindi mended fences with Biya in April 2020, resigning from his party to join the CPDM. Party is currently led by 2025 presidential candidate Hilaire Dzipan [Mouvement Progressiste (MP)]. |
