DescriptionConservative Islamist party which ran under the DRP umbrella. Party was the country's second largest until 2011 when its first leader, former Maldives president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, quit to form the Progressive Party of the Maldives. Party had not had a presence in the Majlis nor had it offered up presidential candidates since 2014. The DRP was led by Kaashidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Jabir until February 13, 2023, when he suddenly resigned to establish the "Green Party of Maldives" (GPM). The subsequent vacuum and lack of activity forced the party to dissolve [Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP); ދިވެހި ރައްޔިތުންގެ ޕާޓީ].
