Description | Mitt Romney has retaken front-runner status from a stumbling Rick Perry according to a new national poll by Fox News that also found businessman Herman Cain has tripled his support.
Romney won 23 percent of GOP support in the poll, compared to 19 percent for Perry, the governor of Texas. Cain, who won the Florida straw poll on Saturday, shot to 17 percent in the new poll, released on Wednesday.
Perry saw his support drop 10 percent from a similar poll a month ago. The governor has endured a rocky month after missteps at several Republican debates in which the rest of the GOP field trained their fire on him. He has also endured questions about his conservative credentials on issues such as immigration. |
