DescriptionOn Tuesday, September 13th, The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) filed legal papers with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on behalf of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) to demand that Pope Benedict XVI and three other specifically named Vatican officials be investigated and prosecuted on the charge of crimes against humanity for covering up child sex abuse cases around the world.

The CCR presented an 84 page complaint with “more than 20,000 pages of supporting materials consisting of reports, policy papers, and evidence of the crimes by Catholic clergy committed against children and vulnerable adults” to the ICC. The group alleges that the “Vatican officials tolerate and enable the systematic and widespread concealing of rape and child sex crimes throughout the world.”
