DescriptionThe Scottish Parliament has gone in to dissolution today signalling the start of the campaign proper for the 2011 elections. Weber Shandwick’s Poll of Polls shows Labour clearly ahead - primarily at the expense of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.

Today’s Poll of Polls, used in conjunction with the ScotlandVotes.com seat predictor, shows that Labour would come out on top with 60 seats, just 5 seats short of an overall majority. The SNP would take 46, Conservatives 12 and the Liberal Democrats 9. The Greens would retain 2 MSPs.

For the constituency vote the poll puts Labour on 42%, SNP on 34%, Conservatives on 12%, and Liberal Democrats on 9%. For the regional vote Labour are on 40%, SNP on 33%, Conservative on 12%, Liberal Democrats on 8% and the Green Party on 4%.

Weber Shandwick’s deputy managing director, Moray Macdonald, said: “The SNP seem to be retaining their share of the vote and seats since the last election, which is quite impressive after four years in Government.
