Description | DES MOINES, Iowa, (AFP) - James Taylor and Kathleen Turner proved better political barometers than Madonna, Willie Nelson or Danny Glover, but, all in all, celebrity endorsements did not make much of a ripple in Iowa's caucuses.
Taylor, Turner and singer Stephen Stills all backed Senator John Kerry, but opinion in Hollywood has been as divided as the public's on the contest to decide who will challenge President George W. Bush in November.
Unlike former president Bill Clinton, who had wide support in Hollywood, none of the current candidates have received the film industry's full backing, Susanne Savage, a Dean campaign worker in Los Angeles told AFP.
Superstars Madonna and Jennifer Lopez have backed retired general Wesley Clark, the former NATO supreme commander. |
