Description | HARTFORD -- House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, who promised to announce whether he would run for governor before the month's end, on Monday said he will instead seek re-election to the Legislature in 2010.
Cafero has served in the General Assembly since 1992.
"I'm here to say to you after a long deliberation and much soul-searching, I will not be a candidate for governor," Cafero, flanked by members of his caucus, told reporters at a 2 p.m. news conference in the GOP offices at the Capitol.
Cafero, 51, formed an exploratory committee for an unspecified statewide office earlier this year. After Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell bowed out, he said he was eyeing the office. |
