Description | That's what the Insider found itself wondering last week as word spread that Republican former Gov. Fife Symington was considering making another run at the state's highest office. The last time Symington made a hubbub like this (for something unrelated to aliens), it was 2005 and Republicans were again searching furiously for a suitable candidate for governor.
At the time, Symington told The Republic that he was "seriously considering" jumping into the 2006 race against then-Gov. Janet Napolitano. Symington ended up nixing the idea - no doubt in part due to poll results that showed him taking a serious drubbing at the hands of the Democratic incumbent.
Now, with GOP Gov. Jan Brewer's election plans uncertain, Symington says he's "thinking seriously" about a gubernatorial run |
