Description | Figures released on Monday showed that the Republican party's five MPs claimed a total £662,660 of taxpayer-funded allowances in 2007/2008.
They also received parliamentary salaries of £63,291 a year, worth another £316,455.
Gerry Adams, the party's leader claimed £134,314 in expenses and allowances in 2007/08. He was widely criticised earlier this month after his lukewarm criticism of the murder of two British Army soldiers by Republican terrorists.
Mr Adams has vowed Sinn Fein MPs will never swear an oath of allegiance to the British Crown, a refusal which prevents his party's five MPs from sitting in the Commons as full members. |
